And so, it was Easter...

Easter started out on Friday night with a 2-dozen batch of plain 'ol hard-boiled eggs turning into 2 dozen beautiful masterpieces! (Although there were very few that made it through the evening without getting smashed in some way and the kids needed new jammies after the fiasco).
Turns out we have expert egg-dippers on our hands! Who knew?

They both had  such a blast... We added 1T lemon juice and 1T vegetable oil to the dye- it made the eggs look marbelized- SO COOL.
Taizlie's jammies weren't even going to make it upstairs to the dirty clothes.... as soon as we mentioned finding new jammies, she was done. I swear... My kids would never ever wear clothes if Mom and Dad would deem it socially acceptable.

Easter Morning was so much fun! We had to have breakfast in bed because we knew if the kids saw the Easter candy first there was no way they were going to eat anything even remotely good for them.
The Easter bunny knew the kids would need sunglasses and cowboy hats for the summer....

And a chocolate rabbit sucker would make anyone smile, am I right?

Personalized Easter Ostrich eggs... They basically only got to hold them for the picture.... after all, we wanted them to last until at least next year. :)

The day ended with going out to Grandma and Grandpa Nulphs for dinner and a family picture.
Ok is it just me or do my kids totally have the cowboy/cowgirl sneer down pat?
Hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!!!

MUD

The last few days have been pretty nice here- still a little chilly but the biggest part of the snow has melted off. The kids have been just itching to get outside so yesterday I decided to put their jackets and boots on and let them play in the backyard.... Little did I know there was a giant mud hole by the back fence.
Within a few minutes Zander came running back to the house upset almost to the point of tears saying, "Mom! TeeTee foot stuck!!" When I got out to see what the heck was going on, Taizlie was running around in the mud and snow with only socks on! She lost one boot in the mud hole and must've decided she might as well get rid of the other one (it was found after much-searching at the bottom of the slide). When the first boot got stuck, she must have fallen in the mud... from the waist down she was pretty soggy and not much better on her top half. Zander managed to somehow steer clear of the worst of it, but he was pretty filthy too. After some quick pictures, they had to undress on the back porch while I strung out the hose (that we haven't gotten out since last summer) to rinse off their clothes- there was no way I was going to put pure mud in the washing machine! Taizlie's socks were purple when I put them on, but it was impossible to tell after her little excursion through the mud.
Can you even see the brown boot?

 My little mess

 Funny boy

I don't suppose there's any chance you could miss the mud on the back of those pants?

We will be going out again soon, I'm sure, even though when they came in Taizlie's feet were red from the cold. The warm shower they got probably made up for that part of it. :) Happy Spring!

Halloween.... Really late

Carving pumpkins was super fun this year... Zander was big enough to help so he had a great time. He kept biting the pumpkin though...? Sometimes that boy is a little crazy like his Daddy.... don't tell Greg I said that. :)

Taizlie didn't really know what to think of the whole pumpkin-carving thing.... she thought it was interesting at first but I guess it got boring pretty quick. We couldn't get her to touch the insides. :)
Zander was a tiger and LOVED his costume. He kept growling at people and when asked what he was he couldn't just say "tiger", it was all one big growl with emphasis on the R at the end. "TIIGERRRRRRRR". So so cute.

Taizlie was my little owl- and she totally rocked the costume. I couldn't believe it but she actually kept the little hat on the whole time.

I know I'm super late with the Halloween post, but I couldn't resist showing off my cuties in their costumes.... even if it is a few weeks late. :)

Happy Harvest!

Fall is here!
 My Sweet Beautiful Girl

 Just Look at Those Faces!
Well I think the growing season is officially over for us.... but for our first garden I think we did pretty dang good! And with the help of Judy I was able to can a good part of it for the first time- it was fun! We've done carrots, beets, and tomato sauce so far. We counted up 13 pumpkins- I think that might've been the kid's favorite part.

Summer 2012

It's hard to believe the summer can go by so fast! Toward the beginning of the summer I made a list of all the things I wanted to get done this summer.... I can count the number of those things we've done on NO fingers. That's right.... we haven't done any of them and it's probably going to start snowing soon. Ok hopefully not snowing, but you get my drift.

We have been busy though! Greg's been working hard... driving his big spreader truck, which he really likes. Whenever he drives it his road rage is just shy of "pee-your-pants-hilarious". He laughs and yells at all the other drivers and says, "I'm WAY bigger than you! Get out of my way!"

My Boys Playing with the Big Toy

As for me, I got a new job! Finally I get to use my nursing skills- freshly graduated.... almost 3 years ago. Oh well. I was afraid if I didn't hurry up and get a job of some kind, I would forget everything I learned in school (and NOBODY should ever have to go through nursing school twice). Anyway, I work for an orthopedic rehab facility in Idaho Falls. Its a really nice, small facility- still pretty new. I have only worked a handful of shifts on my own but I'm really liking it. The best part is that the schedule works out really great for the kids- it's only part time and when I have to work Greg is usually home to be with them. When he can't be home I can rely on Katy so the kids are always with family, which makes me feel better.

Zander and Taizlie are really good friends at the moment. Ask me if they still are in 5-10 years and the answer may be a little different but they get along super good right now. If Taizlie is awake while Zander is sleeping she seems restless and maybe a little fussy but as soon as Zander enters the room the world is good again. And if Taizlie is asleep while Zander is up, he asks about every 5 minutes or so, "Tea-Dea? Up?" As soon as he hears her on the monitor it's no more waiting and asking... it's just running to get her out of bed.

Zander is my big helper boy- no matter what I'm doing he's helping. He loves to help roll out dough, bring me laundry, open the doors for me, get the dishwasher soap out.... anything. He is starting to talk alot more in sentences and he suprises me every day with what he knows. For example, I had no idea until today that he knows the difference between the word "you" and the word "me". I grabbed his cup and tried to hand it to him, he shook his head, pointed at me, and said, "No. You drink." I took a drink and handed it to him and then he said, "Me drink." He knows his colors and he's getting really good at his numbers too. He's such a good boy- everything he does starts out with good intentions.... even if it ends up a mess. :) I love how sweet he is- especially in the mornings- he's pretty generous with the loves. One of the funniest things he does right now is kiss me when he thinks he's in trouble. If he has any inkling that he might be in trouble, he runs to me and kisses whatever body part is closest, whether it's a hand, a foot, a leg, my hair, it doesn't matter- a kiss is the same as a "get-out-of-jail-free card".

Taizlie is getting so big! She's going to be a year old at the end of this month! I can hardly believe that she's already almost a year old and how fast she's changing. She crawls faster and faster- she's been "Mowgli-crawling" for the last couple months and less than a week ago she got brave and took her first steps. Since then, the numbers of steps she's been taking by herself keep getting to be more and more. She knows a cow says Moo, she says Momma and Dadda and I think she even said Zander today (if that's what NEER means ;)), and she says please when she wants something. I love it. And she is our dirt-eater. Zander was never super-impressed with dirt, but she loves it. When we take her outside and set her in the grass, she will inevitably have dirt smeared all across her face and in every nook and cranny in her mouth along with some grass, despite our efforts to dissuade her. :)

Zander got a wagon for his birthday....
so that is what Mom and Dad and sometimes
even Zander get to pull around for the next....
well I guess we'll see how long it lasts. :)
He LOVE LOVE LOVES his wagon.
And whenever he needs a ride he always
says Taizlie needs a ride too.
Somebody got pretty tired while we were
putting in our garden this year.
